Controversial Topics in Computer Science
Controversial Topics in Computer ScienceAs a good writer you have to be sensitive to issues that are controversial in the computer science field. You must avoid being sensitive to them as much as possible. They are controversial topics and you have to take into account that it is important to remain indifferent. An issue is not controversial if it does not affect you personally. Sometimes it is quite true that what you say on the Internet may reach somebody else in an indirect way. That is, your statement may affect someone directly. If you want to avoid this, you must avoid being concerned with issues that are controversial in the computer science field. As much as possible, you should rely on your own common sense. Let me tell you a story about something that happens in the office. It is possible that I heard a comment on the internet that I thought was appropriate for my company. The next day, somebody called me and said that I had offended him by using his comments. It happened sev eral times. As soon as I heard the remark, I left it alone and the next time the same thing happened. In fact, that same remark was used again. Of course, that remark was never intended for me. It was meant for another employee of the company. The issue got so problematic that the company leadership decided to let everybody else be fired as punishment.Even though the situation got to be so confusing, nobody seemed to know the other's intention. There was a management person who came to me and said that what I did was wrong. I realized that my problem was the same as that of the other employees because he felt that I was totally oblivious about what he was saying. My point here is that when you use common sense and do not rely on the other's intention, you will not be affected by the controversy. Some things may hurt you personally but you cannot avoid knowing that something is wrong. In order to avoid getting affected by the issue, you can be a bit more prudent and think that there is nothing wrong in what he is saying. However, if the issue will stay unresolved and the issue is not settled, you should try to look for the resolution. But, you cannot blame the other employee for the situation because he or she was in a difficult situation himself. After all, this is not the time to debate politics or debate political correctness. You are dealing with individuals and the common ground is to treat them as human beings. Be like adults and use common sense.
